DESERTS, Symphonic Suite No. 1, is recorded in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and California. Paul Lloyd Warner brought his keyboards to such places as The Grand Canyon, The Painted Desert, above the Carlsbad Caverns, and quiet nature spots away from civilization to record this album.
DESERTS is a celebration of the desert’s amazing diversity - from the low hot deserts where the cacti bloom all the way to magnificent mountains and valleys where the most colorful and dramatic canyons and buttes loom in the foreground and distance. The desert is teeming with life once you get close to it and the amount of plants, flowers and trees is astounding.
Some of the specific locations where DESERTS is recorded are: Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon; Monument Valley; close to Zion National Park; the Sonora Desert east of Tucson; Arizona, near Cuyamaca, California; the Mojave Desert and remote locations that do not have names.
The first in a series of environmentally recorded albums in nature, DESERTS has special meaning to the composer, Paul Lloyd Warner, because it is his first completely “LIVE on Location” recording in the wilderness.
